HISTORY
Shahid I. Brown has been involved in the Art World for the past ten years. Focusing on producing quality art products and developing the greater art community. Growing up in the Silicon Valley during the digital era he has become familiar with almost every multi-media authoring tool. Some of the dynamic programs that this individual is skilled in are: Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Quark, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash, Word, Excel, Power Point, Swish & more ! Shahid is a true web guru, with the ability to work on both Macs & PC's.
Shahid has recently been striving to seek greater exposure by participating in more corporate and community based projects. Some of them being projects with The Golden State Warriors, The Oakland Raiders, The Los Angeles Lakers, The Bob Marley Museum, View Park Preparatory, The Hayward YMCA, Teens Incentive Project, NIAD, Cannibal Flower and much more!!! All the while he still manages to produce original artwork when commissioned by private parties like: Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, Tisha Campbell Martin, Soleil Moon Frye, Marilyn Manson, Jim Rome and many more!

I do possess a strong knowledge of layout and design, as a Art History Major, I also have designed fonts for independent projects, as well as Print pages. I have designed postcards for art shows and special media events.
I am an experienced Multi-Media artist familiar with most visual authoring tools for Print & Web. Some programs I am proficient in are: Photoshop, Illustrator Quark, Dreamweaver, Flash, Power Point, Premiere, Fireworks and all basic Textually based Programs. I am strong coding for Html, My Sql, and PhP, Javascripts, Xml, and more. I also continue to learn, grow and develop my web knowledge to create the best product for my clients needs. In the past few years there have been a couple of projects that demanded these skills to set-up and build Shopping Carts, Blogs, or SEO'ing.
I have been working as a freelance artist, finding, bidding on, & contracting out work for my own jobs. This requires for me to be diligent to find the work, confident when bidding on jobs, and I need to be meticulous and supportive when contracting out work to a 3rd party. Going thru the design process with the client is really rewarding, Taking their vision, shaping it, and making an ideal a real working product. Finding the balance between creativity and functionality. To accomplish all these things scheduling, and deadlines are important to stay on track. A call, or an email is a daily gift when I am on a project. As an Independent I have had success in design, but have not been able to find the right project to really see my work flourish. I am looking to join a successful team effort to assist in producing the highest quality project possible. Leading to bigger future assignments.
Having worked at a Production House coloring comics, I learned the importance of separations, bw & 4 color processes. Being a team leader I was responsible for the output and consistency of my team. My time at Hits Magazine allowed me the opportunity to work under stiff weekly deadlines. Handling Multiple sections of the magazine I was responsible for the layout and design of said sections, these would be updated 3-4 times a year. Designing ads for radio stations or record labels required layout skills, a sharp eye for errors, and a quick clicking mouse hand to output so we could proof pages before they go to print. As a designer I know I am the last front before the product goes out on the floor, and I care what I see.
Having been in the Industry for some 10 odd years, I am familiar with PC's or Macs. And all basic programs, I.E.; Word, MS Office, Power Point, Outlook, I am sure if there is some simple app that I do not use, it should take about a day to get up to speed.
For the past 5 years i have been more aggressively involved in the art scene. Being a Gallery Director has allowed me to not just find opportunities, but to offer them to others. I am now looking to align with other art groups to continue to offer great art opportunities.
